Airlie Sturrock, RMT

Airlie completed the 3000 hour Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2012 where she received the prestigious Lindsay Atkinson-Duncan Memorial Award. Since her graduation, she has worked in both clinic and spa environments, working with a wide variety of clients and conditions. She is a life-long learner and enjoys helping her clients get back into action and educating on health, fitness and balance. She has been an athlete all her life starting with dance, then moving into  competitive paddling, kickboxing and just being out in nature. She also enjoys passing on her knowledge and inspiring the future RMT's of the world at West Coast College of Massage Therapy.  Airlie LOVES being an RMT and the Absolute team.

Brennan Mahoney, RMT

Myofasical Techniques - Deep Tissue - Rehabilitation specific to Construction Trades

 

Brennan is a graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, and is excited to be a part the Absolute team. Brennan graduated valedictorian of his class, and has since developed his treatment style to meet each individual’s therapeutic needs. From working with clients with daily aches and pains, to fine tuning the performance of elite athletes, Brennan is confident that he can provide massage services that will satisfy all. When not seeing clients in the clinic, Brennan can be found playing his guitar on the beach, contemplating a good read, or cooking something delicious with his family and friends. He is excited to further his journey as an RMT, both as a clinician and future educator.

*Please note: Brennan is currently on leave from his RMT practice. In the interim, his locum, Iz Shafey, will be continuing to care for his clients.

Charlene Waldner, RMT

Sports Rehab - Relaxation - Deep Tissue - Muscle Energy Technique

Charlene graduated from the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria in 2012. Since then she has had the pleasure of working in a variety of spa and and clinic environments, as well as enthusiastically volunteering at many sporting events. She enjoys working with clients of all ages, including seniors and youth. As a lifelong athlete and fitness advocate, Charlene is passionate about educating clients in ways to stay injury-free, recover from sport related injuries, and maintain a healthy body. She also enjoys working with clients in office settings to help all those professional-sitters out there to stay injury-free on the job! Darcie Coles, RMT

Deep tissue - Myofascial Release - Trigger Point Therapy - Muscle Energy Techniques - Sports Massage

Darcie is a Registered Massage Therapist and completed the 3000 hour Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2011. With training in clinical, out-reach and spa environments, she is well-practiced in working with clients and health care professionals from various backgrounds. She enjoys working with a variety of clientele and is passionate about promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle for everyone. In September Darcie is looking forward to beginning her Bachelors' of Health Science through Thompson Rivers University's long distance program while continuing to grow her practice at Absolute Therapy.

Emily deMontigny, RMT

Muscle Energy Technique - Joint Mobilization - Myofascial Release

Emily values the potential for change in each appointment and in each human being. A graduate of the 3000 hour program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy (New Westminster, BC) in 2002, she offers 14 years of experience in private practice. Emily has also worked as a Clinic Instructor for WCCMT and Vancouver Career College for 11 years. her continuing education includes craniosacral technique, lymphatic drainage, and end-range loading. Emily also enjoys working with clients experiencing constipation, chest restriction/tightness, and post-trauma cases. Personally, Emily enjoys community, music, great food, nature, and exercise. She is happy to join the multidisciplinary team at Absolute Therapy and be in beautiful Victoria, BC.

Emily Mann, RMT

Deep Tissue - Relaxation - Trigger Point Therapy - Myofascial Release

Emily is a new RMT and recent graduate from West Coast College of Massage Therapy 2200 hour program in Victoria. She enjoys working with a diverse group of clientele and values patient education. She encourages her clients to take an active role in their rehabilitative process while promoting a calming and supportive environment. In her free time you can find Emily exploring the local coffee shops and hiking trails. She also has an interest in human anatomy and physiology and is happy to share lots of informational tidbits or answer any questions you may have. She is excited to begin her career as an RMT at Absolute Therapy and explore all the profession has to offer.

Hayley Moriarity, RMT

Myofascial Release - Deep Tissue - Joint Mobilization - Mobile Massage

Hayley attended the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, graduating in 2015. During her time at WCCMT she developed a passion for aiding and assessing traumatic injuries and procedures. She also discovered that her her strength in communicating effectively with clients helped her to incorporate client's concerns and insecurities relating to their injuries into their treatment plans. Her ability to empower her clients to feel they have control over their health and the ability to overcome obstacles motivates her in her career as a massage therapist. Moving forward, Hayley looks forward to taking continued education with regards to the treatment of lymphedema and scar tissue, and also plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Health Science. When she is not working, Hayley enjoys exploring trails and finding all the hidden treasures British Columbia has to offer.

Iz Shafey, RMT

With a natural inclination toward all things physical combined with years of meditation experience, Iz balances his innate tendency to keep moving with the serenity of stillness and finds these qualities at their peak while practicing Massage Therapy. His diverse background in mixed martial arts, sports and Yoga, has shaped Iz’ understanding of the amazing capabilities the human body, as well as provided him with knowledge of how to recognize imbalance in the body.
Iz has been practicing as an RMT since 2018, however also has 4 years of previous experience as a Zenthai Shiatsu therapist. This combination gives Iz a unique approach to treating the human body from both a Western medicine perspective and a holistic Eastern comprehension. He enjoys helping individuals achieve their fitness goals or maintain their healthy lifestyles, and is passionate about implementing recovery programs to get his clients back to enjoying their favourite activities.

Trigger Point Therapy – Myofascial Release – Joint Mobilization – Relaxation

 

Jess (she/her) joins the Absolute team as a recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. With her previous education and experience in the field of mental health and addictions, she has always had a passion for helping others. Yoga sparked Jess’ love for movement and after completing a 200hr yoga teacher training program, she was eager to learn more about human anatomy, the mind/body connection, and how movement can help us heal. Jess describes her treatment style as ‘specific and relaxing’ – working to address each client’s primary complaint while inducing a relaxed state to allow the body to receive treatment. From youth to seniors and everyone in between, Jess values each individual’s unique path and motivations for seeking out massage therapy.

Outside of the treatment room, Jess can be found on her yoga mat, hiking Vancouver Island’s trails, running on Dallas Road, or sipping a finely brewed cup of coffee at one of Victoria’s local shops.

Kristy Elesko, BA, RMT

Deep tissue - Abdominal Work - Relaxation treatments - Pre/Post-natal Care

Kristy joins Absolute Therapy as a graduate from WCCMT Victoria, where her work treating Chronic Whiplash Associated Disorder won a 2014 research award. Kristy gained valuable personal experience and motivation to pursue Massage Therapy following an injury after completing her first 5km race in 2011. She encourages her clients to recognize that small changes can have lifelong effects and that most of the everyday physical discomforts that we experience are both treatable and preventable. Whether you are recovering from injury, pursuing new physical challenges, dealing with chronic disablement, or trying to reduce your daily aches and pains, Kristy would like to help you on your path. She also offers mobile massage therapy services for new parents in the first 8 weeks after their baby's arrival. Recovering from birth and caring for a new infant can make traveling to the clinic difficult and Kristy endeavours to make massage accessible to parents during this time. When Kristy is not in the clinic, she enjoys learning to play the ukelele, singing in a choir, and hiking various coastal trails around southern Vancouver Island.

Rebecca Tranter, RMT

Sports massage - Deep Tissue - Myofascial Release, Relaxation 

 

Rebecca is a recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy 2200 hour program in Victoria. She enjoys working with clients from all walks of life, and has special interest in working with athletes or helping clients return to athletic routines post-injury. From a young age Rebecca has always felt the importance of movement as part of wellness in life, and patient involvement and movement are often included as part of her treatment approach. She loves learning about the mind/body connection, and is excited to embark on her career as an RMT to continue to learn and help people every day.  In her spare time Rebecca can be found in the gym, coaching or taking part in Crossfit classes, exploring the island, playing a game of crib or reading a good book.

Sam Dalke, RMT

Trigger Point Therapy - Myofascial Release - Deep Tissue techniques - Stress Management

 

Sam is a recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy here in Victoria. Through her massage practice, Sam endeavours to understand the underlying cause of each person’s condition. She is passionate about helping her clients reach their health goals with the use of assessment and comprehensive treatment planning. Sam has special interest in the treatment of overuse/ repetitive strain injuries and headaches, and strongly believes massage can help improve one’s quality of life, both physically and emotionally. When Sam is not massaging, she can be found biking, hiking and exploring all this wonderful island has to offer.

Sandra Rutz, RMT

Relaxation, Circulation management & Deep Tissue Massage

Sandra has had a love for Massage Therapy since childhood. She is a recent graduate from the 2200 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria. She enjoys giving very slow and deep massage treatments, while at the same time developing a professional relationship between clients and herself. 

Sandra is currently on maternity leave and hopes to return to practice in early 2021.

Tiffany Pelletier, RMT

Graston Technique - Myofascial Release - Postural and Sports Rehab

Tiffany has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since early 2006. Since her successful completion of the Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, she has worked in a variety of integrated health clinics here in Victoria, as well as in New Zealand. In 2010 Tiffany was pleased to open Absolute Therapy. Tiffany strives to continually share her commitment to creating positive lifestyle changes through her practice and the workshops she provides in the community. She enjoys working with a variety of clientele and is passionate about educating about the wonders of massage. At present Tiffany is taking a break from her public practice to continue her new adventures in motherhood.

Jordan Martindale, New-Grad Therapist (soon-to-be RMT!)

Jordan is a recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, and currently awaits the results of her board examinations to become a Registered Massage Therapist. As a lifelong competitive athlete, Jordan believes passionately in the benefits of regular movement and self-care, as well as the positive effects of Massage Therapy. With her background and prior education in sport, Jordan loves working with an active population, and cites working with Rugby Canada as the highlight of her time at WCCMT. She aims to blend the scientific knowledge gained throughout her education with each client’s individual needs to develop a unique treatment plan for everyone she sees. Jordan is looking forward to growing as a therapist with the Absolute team.

Natalie Hawthorne (nee Denoni), CAT(C), R.Kin, BAET

Natalie graduated from Camosun College with a Bachelor's degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy, and is certified as a Certified Athletic Therapist through the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association. She also holds a designation as a Practicing Kinesiologist through the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists. Natalie enjoys working with a wide variety of clients, and also has an extensive background working with high performance athletes (including rugby, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, football and volleyball), industrial workers and dancers. Natalie has also had the opportunity of working with clients with spinal cord injuries, MS, and Parkinson's Disease. Natalie is delighted to be part of the Absolute Therapy team as she continues to grow her professional expertise. 

Randi Hunter, CAT(C)

Randi is excited to be joining the Absolute team to complement Natalie's availability as she returns from her maternity leave. She graduated from Camosun College with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy in 2017. She is a Certified Athletic Therapist through the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association. Since her graduation Randi has had the pleasure of working with many different high performance and recreational athletes (including rugby, soccer, hockey, basketball, rowing). Over the last 2 years Randi has been working directly with the BC Rugby Youth Elite 7’s series as well as other contracts with BC Rugby, University of Victoria and Rugby Canada. She is delighted to grow and refine her skills in the clinic with Absolute.

Maria Brownlow, Therapeutic Yoga Instructor

Mental Health and Well-Being – Chronic Pain – Neurological Conditions

Maria (She/her) has been student of yoga for 10 years, and began teaching in 2016 after taking her first Yoga teacher training in Nepal. With training in traditional Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga she began training in therapeutic yoga to deepen her knowledge for working with those facing acute and chronic health conditions and how the practices of yoga can be adapted to suit the needs of anyone to promote wellbeing and health. She has a passion to incorporate yoga therapy as a part of an individual’s wellness and helping them uncover and achieve living life with more ease is possible no matter your physical or emotional place. She uses approaches like Yoga Nidra, Breath-work and targeted somatic movement and conditioning techniques from Yoga and Meditation. With a focus in working with Chronic Pain, Neurological Conditions and Mental Health, Maria is trained to work with clients with various injuries and conditions, and works with clients one-on-one as well as in small group series. She is excited to continue her career and teaching to Absolute Therapy.

Caitlin is the friendly face that greets you from behind the front desk of Absolute Therapy.  A former student at the University of Victoria with 10+ years experience in the fields of administration, client service, sales and management. Caitlin has a longstanding personal interest in facilitating a high quality of care and service for clients.  Caitlin takes pride in ensuring that our front desk runs smoothly, and in turn, that your visits to the clinic are simple, straightforward, and satisfying for you.  Beyond her position supporting our team, Caitlin enjoys kickboxing and spending time with her daughter.

Clinic Mascot/Greeter

The Absolute team is thrilled to welcome our new team mascot, the adorable Rosie! Being new to the team, Rosie is still learning the ropes at Absolute but is certain to win you over with her enthusiasm. She is currently in training to become a Certified Therapy Dog, and in her off-time can be found playing with other puppies at the dog park, chasing toys or enjoying a good snooze. She looks forward to making Absolute Therapy a relaxing environment for all of our wonderful clients and can't wait to meet you soon!
